Auditions for a TV Series

A poster calling for auditions Ugandan TV Series

Dilstories is producing a TV series, a dramedy about a middle-aged woman and her three daughters struggling to protect the achievements of their lives in the harsh reality of present day Kampala. We are thus casting for various roles. We start rehearsals on 17th August 2020 and it will run for two weeks, while production starts on 31st August 2020 and will run for eight months. For the lead role, you must be available on a full time basis, while for other roles, you have to be available whenever called upon.

This is a dramedy leaning more to the humor side, and so we are particularly interested in actors, especially for the lead role, who have a good sense of humor ;-))

Hint: We are looking for fresh faces!

Young Woman (Lead Role) aged between 19 and 24.

Young Woman aged between 25 and 34

Older Woman aged between 35 and 60

Young Man aged between 20 and 34

Older Man aged between 35 and 60

To apply, please follow these steps and fill in the application form. We do not accept applications via whatsapp or email.

Step 1: Record yourself (using a mobile phone is fine) performing a monologue. Please find monologues for the respective roles below. (Tip: avoid wigs, hats, sunglasses, and heavy/excessive make-up. We want to see you 🙂 And another tip, it’s a performance!)

Step 2: Upload the performance to YouTube or Vimeo or Google drive. Make sure it is not available to the public. For example on YouTube you can make it unlisted and for Vimeo just don’t share the link publicly. If you upload to Google Drive, please enable sharing only to those with the link.

Deadline is 31st July 2020

Auditions will be held on 6th August 2020 (Only successful applicants will be called for face-to-face auditions)

Monologues

Young woman (19 - 34)

I’m sorry come again? Are you seriously trying to have a conversation with me right now? Bambi, it seems you are not as educated as me so let me put it clearly for you. Genda! Ssagala your nonsense wano. We are not an item. Don’t call me, don’t text me.

Can you believe this boy? If my followers saw me talking to such a person I swear I would lose like 500 of them immediately.

Anyway, you chic, let us go.

Older woman (35 - 60)

You know what I would advise you to do Agnes, leave the guy after all aren’t you working. You said that everything you have belongs to you so if you leave him what is he going to take from you? Think about it. People do that these days…

Ah-ah. Stop crying. Look at all this evidence I have brought for you. You think I brought it just so that you spill your tears over it. You are a strong woman, get up and be strong and take charge.

Young man (20 - 34)

Listen you babe; any chic would dig a guy like me. You’re missing out on a huge opportunity. Just marry me. First marry me and I will get you that phone you want. Nothing is for free you know…

There is nothing to think about…

You know deep in your heart you need me. In fact you should be thanking me for paying you any attention when your friends can’t even show their faces. Social media isn’t you friend. I am your friend. I came, I showed up and what do I get in return a simple thank you. No…no..Rita common!

Older man (35 - 60)

Ssebo, you think I’m stupid? I know you are my friend but business is business. You already borrowed money that you haven’t paid and now today is your loan deadline for the second payment which you are also failing to pay and you expect me to push things. Really Sseumuju that is theft! It is theft.

Now, I have already made discussions with my lawyer and we shall be coming to your property to see what is ours. Ah-ah…I understand, I understand but you also have to understand that when you make a deal, you make a deal and now these are just the consequences my brother. Simple consequences.
